An Eternal Perspective

Post Resurrection & Alive Forevermore with Jesus!

Resurrection Sunday is not the end of the story—it is the beginning of a transformed life. The empty tomb is not just a moment in history; it is a present reality that continues to shape the believer’s identity, hope, and mission. In the days and weeks following Jesus’ resurrection, Jesus did not vanish into abstraction—He appeared, spoke, ate, taught, and commissioned. The risen

Christ made Himself known, and in doing so, He established both the power and the proof of the resurrection for all generations.

We believers are not just people who believe in the resurrection—we are people who are shaped by it.  The resurrection gives us:

  • New Life – We are not improved versions of our old selves; we are made new.

  • Living Hope – Our hope is anchored in a living Savior, not a distant memory.

  • Spiritual Authority – Sin no longer reigns; grace does.

  • Eternal Perspective – Even suffering is reframed in light of victory.

Because He lives, we live differently. The resurrection empowers us to forgive when it’s hard, to endure when it’s costly, and to love when it’s inconvenient. It is not abstract theology—it is daily strength.

Many over time have been skeptical of the proof of the Resurrection of Jesus.  Yet, there is strong biblical evidence (written Gospels, independent accounts from many who saw him).  After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to many including:

  • In Jerusalem, He appeared to the apostles in a house—likely the Upper Room—where He stood among them and spoke peace (Luke 24:36; John 20:19). Notably, Thomas was absent during this first appearance (John 20:24).

  • A week later, Jesus appeared again in the same setting, this time including Thomas, inviting him to see and touch His wounds (John 20:26).

  • Over the following weeks in Galilee, Jesus appeared to seven disciples while they were fishing (John 21:1), demonstrating His physical, risen body by eating with them.

  • On a mountain in Galilee, He gave the Great Commission, sending His followers into the world (Matthew 28:16–20).

  • He appeared to more than 500 people at once (1 Corinthians 15:6), many of whom were still alive when this was recorded—essentially inviting verification.

He appeared to James, His own brother (1 Corinthians 15:7), who went from skeptic to leader in the early church.

Historical considerations even outside of the Bible answer many questions also. There were accounts of frightened disciples who became bold proclaimers, and many endured persecution and death, not for a belief they hoped was true, but for something they claimed to have seen.  People may die for a lie they believe—but not for a lie they know they invented.  Additionally, An empty tomb, the transformation of the disciples, and the consistent testimony across multiple witnesses form a compelling historical case: something extraordinary happened—and the simplest explanation is that Jesus truly rose.

What followed next was the fact that Jesus WAS among His people.  Here, the post-resurrection appearances were not random—they were deeply intentional.

With that, Jesus did three key things when He reappeared:

He Restored - To fearful disciples hiding behind locked doors, He spoke peace. To Thomas in doubt, He offered evidence. To Peter, who had denied Him, He offered reinstatement and purpose.

He Revealed - Jesus opened the Scriptures, helping His followers understand how everything pointed to Him. The resurrection wasn’t a detour—it was the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.

He Commissioned - On a mountain in Galilee, Jesus gave His followers their mission: go into all the world and proclaim the gospel. The resurrection was not meant to be kept quiet—it was meant to be carried outward.

And that mission continues today with you and I.  May God bless you abundantly this season.
